Job summary

The Department of Justice in Western Australia is seeking a Regional Senior Programs Officer to deliver rehabilitation programs in prison-based and community settings. You will work with colleagues to run group-based interventions that help offenders address offending and adopt law‑abiding behaviours to reintegrate into the community.

Job description

This is a permanent, full-time / part-time vacancy that requires filling.

About The Role

Regional Senior Programs Officer positions are responsible for delivering rehabilitation programs in both prison-based and community settings. The position offers rewarding opportunities to work alongside other colleagues to deliver group-based interventions. Through this work you will be able to assist offenders to address their offending and guide them in developing strategies to adopt law‑abiding behaviours and successfully reintegrate into their community.

Suitability Requirements

• Group Intervention Knowledge and Experience – Familiarity working with a group of people to achieve outcomes.
• Communication skills – Able to engage in written and verbal communication across networks and with a range of stake holders.
• Teamwork – Familiar with team dynamics and being part of a team
• Cultural sensitivity and knowledge – An awareness of the various cultural groups and demonstrated strategies to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ethical Practice – Demonstrated awareness of codes of conduct and professional requirements.

The suitability requirements outlined will be what the panel will assess throughout the selection process.

Eligibility

Special conditions: It is a requirement of the position holder to hold a valid driver’s licence.

Qualifications

An accredited qualification in Psychology and eligibility for general registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); or an approved Social Work qualification and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW); or an approved 4‑year behavioural science degree.
