About The Role

Corrective Services is seeking motivated and experienced individuals to join our team of healthcare professionals at Casuarina Prison in the role of Registered Nurse.

In this role, you will provide direct care to offenders in our care and will be an active member of a supportive multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant will be committed to delivering excellent standards of nursing care; ensure patient safety; have well developed clinical assessment skills; have the ability to make sound clinical judgements; have a strong work ethic and demonstrated effective communication & interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain focus on the Department’s goals concerning safety, security and rehabilitation.
• Work to improve communication and model integrity and respect in all interactions.
• Operate within the Department's Corporate Governance Framework, policies and procedures and ensure effective transparency and accountability of all Department activity.
• Operate within chain of command facilities to coordinate activities required to meet the Department’s strategic objectives.
• Work collaboratively to achieve common goals and best practice and facilitate business improvements as appropriate.

Eligibility

Permanent positions – To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

Qualifications

Successful applicants must already be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency Registration.

• A copy of your current AHPRA Registration as Registered Nurse.

• A two (2) page statement outlining your suitability for the role in the context of the four (4) Essential Role Specific Criteria, using examples of recent practice to support your claims.
• Demonstrated clinical skills according to level of experience using a problem solving approach to nursing practice within a primary care corrections setting.
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a wide range of cultures.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of continuous Quality Improvement process.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and leader.

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of twelve (12) months from the date after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
