Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead construction and maintenance initiatives across rural and remote NSW Teacher and Police Housing portfolios. You will oversee projects through full lifecycle, from planning and procurement to governance, risk management and delivery.

In this client-side role, you will coordinate external consultants and contractors, manage budgets and schedules, prepare briefing notes and board papers, and ensure compliance with NSW procurement policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver construction, security hardening, maintenance and refurbishment across rural NSW Teacher and Police Housing portfolios.
  • Manage projects across planning, procurement, governance, risk and delivery.
  • Act as client-side project manager for the Teacher Housing Authority.
  • Lead and oversee external consultants and contractors.
  • Manage procurement and contract administration under the NSW Procurement Policy Framework, including MW21 and GC21 contracts.
  • Program-manage multiple work packages, including budgets, schedules, quality control, stakeholder coordination, reporting and MS Project management.
  • Present to steering committees and the Board.
  • Ensure scoping, tendering, contract award, defect and completion processes comply with government procurement requirements.
  • Prepare approvals and governance documentation, including briefing notes, Minister’s notes, board papers and financial documentation.
  • Maintain project records, databases and property condition data.
  • Manage defect liability periods, documentation handover and site meetings.
  • Provide ongoing property maintenance advice and undertake regional travel as required.

Requirements
  • Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, including planning, procurement, governance, delivery and close-out
  • Strong project management skills, including managing risks, budgets, timelines and competing priorities
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills across government, industry and community stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to prepare reports, briefings and project documentation and present complex information clearly
  • Sound knowledge of property maintenance, construction and project delivery principles, governance, procurement, contractual administration, compliance and risk management frameworks
  • Ability to plan, document, prioritise and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in construction management, facilities management or a related discipline
  • Regional travel at short notice, including overnight travel, as required
  • Completion of or willingness to complete 11084NAT Asbestos Awareness course
  • Valid NSW Driver’s Licence – Class C
  • Valid NSW White Card
  • Current First Aid certification, including HLTAID009, HLTAID010 and HLTAID011
  • Proven experience in the construction industry
  • Strong people management and coordination skills
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
