Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to shape Australia’s energy landscape through HV design, grid studies, and multidisciplinary collaboration. You’ll work with leading experts on transmission, distribution, renewables, and energy infrastructure projects.

You will perform detailed power system studies, develop models, and contribute to client engagements, with opportunities for travel and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).
• 4–8+ years of experience delivering transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or power systems projects.
• RPEQ/RPEV registration or eligibility.
• Experience in consulting/utility/EPC environments with practical engineering solutions.
• Strong understanding of generation, transmission, and distribution networks and relevant standards.
• Hands-on power system studies including load flow, fault level, planning, and connection assessments.
• Proficiency with DIgSILENT PowerFactory; ETAP/PSCAD and Python are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑voltage primary design solutions for substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, renewables, and data centres.
• Develop and review power system models, specifications, studies, and reports for planning and operation.
• Perform power system analyses (load flow, fault level, stability, dynamic performance).
• Support Owner's Engineer engagements and due diligence with protection systems, SCADA, lines, cables, and earthing design.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, commercially practical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote Safety in Design across projects.
• Contribute to proposals, client engagement, and business development for Power & Energy.
