Job summary

WALGA is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor – Member Services to coordinate responses to emerging policy issues affecting Local Governments across Western Australia. You will analyse complex policy challenges, develop evidence-based positions and advise on advocacy priorities that shape sector outcomes.

You’ll engage with member local governments, govern­ment agencies and stakeholders, lead projects, and contribute to service improvements and commercial partnerships within WALGA’s Member Services

Qualifications

• Strong ability to analyse complex policy issues affecting Local Governments.
• Experience in developing policy positions and advocacy materials.
• Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and translate insights into practical advice.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyse complex policy issues affecting Local Governments.
• Review legislation, regulatory reforms and Government policy proposals.
• Assess opportunities, risks and impacts for the sector.
• Develop policy positions, submissions, briefing papers and reports.
• Consult with Member Local Governments and key stakeholders.
• Lead and contribute to projects, member service initiatives and service improvements.
• Support WALGA's advocacy activities and represent member interests.
• Build productive relationships with Government agencies, industry groups and sector stakeholders.
