Job summary

WALGA invites an experienced emergency management professional to join its policy and advocacy team in Western Australia. As Senior Policy Advisor Emergency Management you will shape policy, influence legislation and guide reform to help local governments prepare for and recover from emergencies.

You will work with member councils and government partners, lead research, develop evidence-based positions, and represent WALGA at committees and reform initiatives across the state.

Qualifications

• Strong background in emergency management and policy reform.
• Experience in bushfire policy, legislation and practice in Western Australia.
• Ability to influence policy from inception to advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Shape policy positions and advocate for adoption by State and Federal Governments.
• Represent WALGA at emergency management working groups and committees.
• Provide policy advice to Local Governments to improve readiness, response and recovery.
