Job summary

Eden Ritchie Recruitment is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to support heavy vehicle policy, freight productivity initiatives and regulatory reform within a Queensland Government department. The role focuses on translating complex transport access issues into practical, evidence-based policy outcomes that align with government priorities and road safety goals.

You will work with government agencies, regulators and industry stakeholders to develop policy recommendations, coordinate investigations

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in public policy research, development, implementation and evaluation.
• Strong ability to interpret complex policy, regulatory and technical information.
• Experience developing evidence-based policy recommendations and assessing risks and impacts.

Responsibilities

• Lead policy research, analysis, options development and implementation planning for heavy vehicle access and freight policy.
• Investigate priority freight access matters including agricultural transport and route optimisation.
• Coordinate policy trials, pilot programs and investigations with governance and evaluation frameworks.
• Analyse regulatory, operational, safety and infrastructure considerations for evidence-based recommendations.
• Prepare executive briefings, submissions and ministerial correspondence.
• Engage with government stakeholders, regulators and industry representatives.
• Manage stakeholder consultations and identify implementation risks and dependencies.
• Translate policy outcomes into practical guidelines and regulatory improvements.
• Monitor policy initiatives and identify lessons learned for reform.
