Job summary

Nicolab is seeking an experienced Senior Platform / Site Reliability Engineer to own and evolve a cloud-based SaaS environment in a remote Australia setting. You will manage AWS production environments, implement IaC using Terraform, and drive reliability through robust CI/CD, monitoring, and disaster recovery practices.

The role requires hands-on experience with AWS, PostgreSQL/RDS, and scalable infrastructure, plus strong problem-solving and independent ownership.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Platform/SRE, DevOps, or Cloud Infra.
• 3+ years managing AWS production environments for SaaS.
• Strong IaC experience (Terraform).
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, rollbacks.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability.
• PostgreSQL/Amazon RDS experience including backups and optimization.
• Disaster recovery planning experience (RTO/RPO).
• AWS security, networking, access management fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Manage AWS production environments across regions including Australia and US.
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability to detect issues early.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment health checks and rollbacks.
• Ensure PostgreSQL and RDS reliability, security, and performance.
• Manage backups, restores, and query optimization; scale databases.
• Develop, document, and test disaster recovery procedures.
• Monitor capacity and prepare systems for growth in demand.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve reliability and performance.
• Handle security patches, maintenance, and incident response.
• Investigate production incidents and implement long‑term fixes.
• Improve automation of infrastructure without impacting development.
