Job summary

Morgan Consulting is partnering with a large Australian organisation to appoint a Senior Platform Engineer to its enterprise infrastructure team. The role covers a multi-datacentre environment with a strong focus on VMware vSphere, NSX, storage and backup, plus disaster recovery and platform modernisation.

Approximately 70% of the role is project-focused, with the remaining 30% for BAU, operational support and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on infrastructure/platform engineering experience in a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong VMware vSphere design, implementation and administration experience.
• Hands-on VMware NSX experience including micro-segmentation and SDN.
• Experience with Dell EMC, NetApp or Pure Storage storage platforms.
• Experience with enterprise backup platforms such as Veeam.
• Exposure to datacentre/workload migration projects and cloud considerations.
• Understanding of automation and Infrastructure as Code practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support VMware vSphere environments.
• Manage and optimise VMware NSX and software-defined networking.
• Support enterprise storage platforms (Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage).
• Manage backup and recovery infrastructure (Veeam).
• Contribute to datacentre consolidation and workload migrations.
• Design, maintain and test Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Identify improvements for performance, resilience and efficiency.
• Support Kubernetes/container technologies within the VMware ecosystem.
• Contribute to cloud migration, automation and Infrastructure as Code.
• Provide documentation and collaborate with vendors and service providers.
• Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately one month every 3-4 months).
