Job summary

Macquarie Group in Sydney is seeking an experienced Senior Software/Cloud Engineer to design, develop and evolve core capabilities within our Verdi cloud platform. You will build software, automation and cloud services that improve how engineers work while embedding security and governance into the developer experience.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence technical direction, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements supported by the company.

Qualifications

• Senior software engineer with production experience in design, development and maintenance of cloud platforms.
• Hands-on coding with Go or Python to build reliable services and automation.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native tech, distributed systems and modern software practices.
• Experience with AWS services and infrastructure as code.
• Mentoring and guiding engineers, influencing technical direction.

In this role you will help design, develop and evolve core capabilities within our cloud platform. You will build software, automation and cloud services that improve how engineers work, while embedding security, governance and operational controls into the developer experience. You will also support and mentor engineers through coaching, collaboration and technical guidance.

• Demonstrated experience as a senior software engineer, platform engineer or cloud engineer delivering complex technology solutions in production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Go or Python, building reliable services, automation solutions and scalable platform capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native technologies, modern software engineering practices and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with AWS services such as Organizations, EC2, EKS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch and S3, alongside infrastructure as code and cloud platform engineering
• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools and automation technologies, including GitHub Copilot or similar platforms.
• Strong collaboration and mentoring skills, with the ability to coach engineers, influence technical direction and communicate effectively with technical and senior stakeholders.
• Beneficial to have experience with agentic applications and AI-driven workflows.
