Macquarie Group is seeking a platform engineer to design, build and support platform services used by engineering teams globally. You will enhance automation, reliability and security across our cloud environment while contributing to governance and site reliability initiatives.

You will work with modern technologies, develop new skills, and collaborate in a fast-paced, global team. Strong backend focus and AWS expertise are valued, with opportunities for leadership.

Our team manages a central cloud platform that supports engineering teams across the organisation. We focus on improving automation, security, reliability and platform capabilities, while enabling teams to build and operate services efficiently at scale.

What role will you play?

In this role you will design, build and support platform services that are used by engineering teams globally. You will help improve automation, reliability and security across our cloud environment, while contributing to initiatives involving platform engineering, artificial intelligence, governance and site reliability. You will also have the opportunity to work with modern technologies and continuously develop new skills.

What you offer

• 5+ years' of experience developing and maintaining production-grade applications using Golang, Python, Ruby, Java, Node.js, C++ or Shell scripting.
• Strong backend engineering expertise, including designing and building scalable microservices, RESTful APIs, distributed systems and highly available platform services.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services, including CloudFormation, Virtual Private Cloud, Identity and Access Management, EC2, Lambda and cloud-native infrastructure automation.
• Strong engineering mindset with a passion for platform engineering, automation, infrastructure as code, observability, reliability and continuous improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking and communication skills, with the ability to evaluate and implement modern technologies, including AI-assisted engineering tools.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work across cloud infrastructure, platform services and automation frameworks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
