Job summary

Pyrenees Shire Council is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join the Planning and Development team. Reporting to the Manager Planning and Development, this role delivers essential planning functions and assesses complex permit applications.

The Senior Planning Officer provides sound planning advice and ensures compliance with the Planning and Environment Act 1987, Subdivision Act 1988, and related policies.

Senior Planning Officer

Permanent Full time Band 6 (Salary range $94,507 - $102,315 p/a incl. RDO) + Super

Pyrenees Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Planning Officer to join the Planning and Development team.

Reporting to the Manager Planning and Development this position plays a vital role in the effective delivery of Council’s planning functions.

The Senior Planning Officer is responsible for assessing complex planning permit applications under thePlanning and Environment Act 1987andSubdivision Act 1988, providing sound planning advice, and ensuring legislative, policy and corporate requirements are met.

The Senior Planning Officer also contributes to strategic planning projects and policy development, works collaboratively across Council, and builds effective relationships with applicants, agencies, and the community to achieve positive planning outcomes for the Shire’s built and natural environments.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborative work, is passionate about land use planning, and values building strong relationships with internal teams and the local community to enhance both the built and natural environments.
