Job summary

City of Mitcham Council in Adelaide's growing suburbs seeks an experienced Senior Planner to join the Development Services team and lead complex assessments. You will assess a broad mix of development applications, provide expert planning advice, and mentor junior staff to ensure robust planning outcomes.

Reporting to the Team Leader Planning, you will influence planning policy, support appeals, and contribute to customer experience improvements while upholding high service standards for the

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Urban & Regional Planning or equivalent.
• Proven experience in development assessment and handling complex matters.
• Knowledge of Planning Act, Regulations and Planning and Design Code.
• Strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency with ePlanning DAP and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assess development applications and exercise delegated authority.
• Prepare assessment reports and present to Council Assessment Panel.
• Provide expert planning advice to applicants and the community.
• Support planning appeals and mediation in relevant courts.
• Mentor Planning Officers and Graduate Planners.
• Contribute to planning reform and customer experience initiatives.
