Job summary

Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies invites applications for a Senior Payroll Officer based in Canberra. This APS role supports payroll, leave and superannuation, working with our external provider to ensure data accuracy and timely processing across the employee lifecycle.

You will liaise with staff and managers, manage the HUB portal, and use SAP and JIRA within a small People Services team under the ODCEO.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering payroll services in an APS environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Knowledge of payroll legislation and entitlements.
• Ability to maintain accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly payroll with external provider and verify final pay reports.
• Handle end-to-end payroll activities: commencements, terminations, leave, superannuation, allowances, overtime.
• Manage leave liabilities for APS transfers and data across payroll system.
• Maintain records and data accuracy in SAP and internal systems.
• Support staff via external Employee Self Service portal (HUB) and respond to payroll inquiries.
• Manage AIATSIS HR ticketing via JIRA and provide stakeholder guidance.
• Advise on conditions of service and reference internal guidelines and policies.
• Research and advise on Enterprise Agreement and leave acts as required.
