Job summary

The Hospitals Contribution Fund Of Australia Limited (HCF) is looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team in Sydney. You will manage end-to-end payroll for fortnightly and monthly cycles, ensuring accurate and timely processing for about 1,850 employees.

You’ll provide trusted advice to employees and stakeholders, support month-end/year-end activities, and handle PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations in a not-for-profit environment focused on member

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll.
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and EBAs.
• Excellent customer service and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong attention to detail and payroll accuracy.
• Experience with Preceda or a similar payroll system is desirable.
• Intermediate Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly and monthly payrolls accurately and within deadlines.
• Manage payroll queries and provide timely, high-quality customer service to employees.
• Prepare monthly payroll reports, reconciliations and support month-end and year-end processing.
• Manage PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations.
• Process new starters, terminations, leave entitlements and superannuation choice funds.
• Interpret and apply relevant awards, EBAs and Australian payroll legislation.
• Resolve payroll issues, including overpayments and recovery processes.
• Liaise with the ATO and other relevant stakeholders when required.
• Work closely with People & Culture and HR Systems teams to maintain accurate employee information.
• Support payroll system changes, upgrades and implementations, including Preceda system administration.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and ways of working.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team and help deliver accurate, timely and high-quality payroll services to approximately 1,850 HCF employees. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing across our fortnightly and monthly payrolls, while providing trusted advice and support to employees and key stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• The ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
• Experience with Preceda or a similar payroll system is desirable.
