With an established team around you and significant payroll knowledge within the function, the role offers a great opportunity to further develop your technical capability while contributing from day one.

A key part of the role will be working directly with employees, managers and supervisors across Council. You'll provide clear and accurate payroll advice, respond to a broad range of employee queries and help ensure staff feel comfortable approaching the payroll team for support.

About You

You'll be an experienced payroll professional who combines strong technical knowledge with an approachable, calm and service-focused working style.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience working within a payroll function.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes, including superannuation, leave, deductions and terminations.
  • Experience interpreting and applying awards, enterprise agreements and employment conditions.
  • The ability to work accurately within a busy fortnightly payroll cycle and manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence providing payroll advice to employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • A collaborative, supportive and approachable working style.
  • Strong payroll systems capability and the ability to learn new systems and processes.

Experience within Local Government payroll, knowledge of the Local Government State Award and experience using Dayforce will be highly regarded.

Candidates with payroll experience from other complex environments, including State Government, water, utilities or organisations operating across multiple awards and enterprise agreements, are also encouraged to apply.
