Job summary

A professional payroll services company in Australia is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to own end-to-end payroll processing across multiple locations. Your role includes handling compliance with legislation and supporting monthly reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years’ experience in payroll management in a high-volume environment, strong knowledge of PAYG, FBT, Super, and tax laws, and will excel in a collaborative, customer-focused setting. Hybrid work arrangements are available.

We’re looking for a Senior Payroll Officer to join a high-performing payroll team and take ownership of end-to-end payroll across multiple locations.

Role Responsibilities

• End-to-end payroll processing for salaried and award staff.
• Be the payroll expert for all AU-related queries and discrepancies.
• Process new starters, terminations, salary changes, and adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with PAYG, FBT, Super, and tax legislation.
• Analyse time & attendance records for accuracy and Award compliance.
• Support monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and year-end processes.
• Maintain payroll records and system integrity.
• Partner with HR to improve processes and assist on broader projects.

Role Requirements

• 3+ years’ payroll experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of NZ payroll is a plus.
• Skilled in payroll/HRIS platforms (Dayforce preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Awards, PAYG, FBT, Super, and tax.
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative, proactive, and customer-focused.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Diploma or higher in HR/Finance or Cert IV in Payroll advantageous.
