Job summary

Harwell Consulting on the Gold Coast is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist for a 6-month contract. You will lead a payroll transformation, designing governance and driving automation across sites.

In this role you’ll own the enhancement roadmap, build controls, and work closely with Finance and People & Culture to support growth while ensuring compliance with awards and enterprise agreements. You’ll influence stakeholders and lift payroll maturity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in payroll with process improvement or automation.
• 2+ years in a business partnering or analyst role.
• Experience interpreting awards and enterprise agreements across multi-site sites.
• Strong Excel modelling for pay rate, roster and enterprise agreement impacts.
• Proven ability to influence and manage stakeholders.

Our client is an established, growing organisation with operations across multiple sites. They’ve just approved an overhaul of their payroll function. Payroll runs, but there’s real scope to tighten controls, automate manual processes and build the governance that will support the business’s next stage of growth.

This is where you come in. Rather than running the fortnightly pays, you’ll own the payroll enhancement roadmap. That means designing controls, leading automation and lifting the maturity of the whole function.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning and delivering the payroll enhancement roadmap
• Designing and implementing controls, checklists, quarterly reviews and audit programs
• Leading automation projects across payroll and related systems
• Partnering with Finance and People & Culture on enterprise agreement costing and IR analysis
• Interpreting awards and enterprise agreements to make sure the business stays compliant across all sites
• Building payroll knowledge across the business through training and clear guidance

What you’ll bring

• At least 5 years in payroll, including process improvement, automation or system implementation projects
• At least 2 years in a business partnering or analyst-style role
• Strong award and enterprise agreement interpretation, plus experience designing controls and audit programs across multi-site organisations
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, including modelling pay rate, roster and enterprise agreement impacts
• Strong influencing and stakeholder skills. You’ll be working alongside an experienced payroll team who know the current process inside out
