Job summary

Barwon Health is seeking a Senior Clinician for the Acting Clinical Consultant – Pathology Program to lead and develop pathology services. You will work under the Chief Medical Officer and Pathology Program Manager to provide oversight and ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective care.

This temporary, part‑time role supports paternal leave cover and involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to advance clinical practice and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) or relevant tertiary qualification in science, biomedical science, or medical laboratory science.
• Demonstrated clinical excellence with extensive experience in the clinical setting.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments and manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight, operational management, leadership and development in the delivery of Pathology services to Barwon Health
• Act as primary source for operational communication between Pathology provider(s) and Barwon Health ensuring continuous Pathology services to Barwon Health
• Promote Best Practice and educational resources in Pathology service provision, test orderingand management.
• Coordinate the development, review and implementation of clinical guidelines and procedures located on Clinical Practice on the document control system
• Ensure documented processes and procedures include multidisciplinary consultation and are evidence based with a strong focus on consumer centred care.
• Ensure accurate, timely completion of work in line with Barwon Health policies, while maintaining regular communication with the Pathology Program Manager
• Oversee Pathology service delivery by monitoring performance and supporting clinical leads to manage resources effectively, ensuring high-quality and financially responsible outcomes
