Job summary

Marie Curie Hospice, Newcastle, is seeking a Consultant in Palliative Medicine to lead medical care for patients with complex needs. The post-holder will take clinical responsibility for patients with malignant and non-malignant conditions and liaise with specialists to ensure high standards of patient care.

You will contribute to teaching for junior doctors, registrars and medical students, participate in audit and clinical research, and engage in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have full GMC registration.
• Applicants must be on or eligible within 6 months from interview for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine (via CCT, CESR or EC rights).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrable leadership in palliative care across settings.
• Experience of participating in audit programmes.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients with complex palliative care needs.
• Take clinical responsibility for patients with malignant and non-malignant conditions.
• Liaise with regional specialists to ensure high standards of patient care.
