Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Staff Specialist in Palliative Medicine at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, NSW. The role supports inpatient, outpatient, community and virtual care, delivering expert symptom management and advance care planning across the region.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, patient-centred palliative care, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to service development and education.

Qualifications

• Primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA.
• Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive specialist palliative care across inpatient, outpatient, community and virtual settings.
• Lead advance care planning conversations and guide goals of care.
• Offer expert guidance on end-of-life care and withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments.
• Collaborate with Hunter New England Health to develop and evaluate models of care.
