Job summary

Moore Australia Melbourne is seeking an experienced finance officer to join the Outsourced Finance function in a senior, client-facing role. You will take ownership of client outcomes, contribute to team culture, and develop technical depth in a CA accountant-led advisory environment.

The role focuses on end-to-end bookkeeping, compliance and reporting for a portfolio of clients, with hybrid working in a modern office and opportunities to lead process improvements within a growing practice.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in senior bookkeeping or finance officer roles.
• Qualification in bookkeeping or accounting recognised by the industry.
• Proficiency with Xero; Xero certification preferred.
• Experience with MYOB is advantageous.
• Strong Excel capability and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
• Handle AP and AR processes, including debtor follow-up and cashflow forecasting.
• Prepare bank, debtor, creditor, wages, payroll tax and PAYG reconciliations.
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and loan accounts.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow).
• Develop cashflow forecasts and budgets for clients.
• Set up new clients and maintain charts of accounts in Xero and MYOB.
• Assist clients with maintenance and improvement of their accounting systems and processes.
• Review bookkeeping work by intermediate and offshore team; provide guidance.
• Ensure deadlines met per delivery schedules.

Join the Outsourced Finance function within a global mid-tier accounting and advisory firm in a senior, client-façing role. With new leadership and a growing client base, we're looking for an experienced finance officer who can take ownership of client outcomes, contribute to team culture and develop their technical depth in a CA accountant-led advisory environment.

Job Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in a senior bookkeeping, finance officer or similar role
• Completion of a recognised bookkeeping or accounting qualification
• Strong practical experience using Xero; Xero certification (preferred)
• Experience with MYOB advantageous
• Solid Excel capability
• Sound knowledge of Australian compliance requirements (BAS, STP, payroll, superannuation, WorkCover)
• Experience reviewing work completed by others, including offshore teams (advantageous)
• Confidence liaising with clients and accountants
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and ability to manage competing deadlines

Job Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Reporting

• Managing end to end bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
• Managing the Accounts Payable (AP) process for clients
• Managing the Accounts Receivable (AR) process for clients, including debtor follow up and cashflow forecasting
• Preparation of bank, debtor, creditor, wages, payroll tax and PAYG reconciliations
• Reconciling intercompany transactions and loan accounts
• Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and cashflow reporting
• Preparing cashflow forecasts and budgets for clients where required
• Setting up new clients and maintaining charts of accounts using accounting software (including Xero and MYOB)
• Assisting clients with the ongoing maintenance and improvement of their accounting systems and processes

Compliance

• Preparing monthly and quarterly compliance obligations, including Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), supported by detailed and logical working papers
• Performing full payroll processing for clients, including STP Phase 2, payroll tax, WorkCover, superannuation guarantee and termination payments where required
• Preparing client accounts to final trial balance stage for year end compliance and liaising with accountants regarding issues and adjustments

Client Management

• Preparing for and attending client meetings
• Responding to ad hoc client queries and requests in a timely and professional manner
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with Business Advisory, Tax and other service lines to support integrated client outcomes

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Reviewing bookkeeping work completed by intermediate and offshore team members, providing guidance, feedback and rework where required to meet firm standards
• Ensuring all client and internal deadlines are met in line with agreed delivery schedules
