Ability Action Australia is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to support participants across the Newcastle and Hunter region. The role offers close-to-home options and a supportive, collaborative environment to impact lives meaningfully.

As an experienced clinician, you will lead clinical care, mentor graduates, and contribute to team development while enjoying a balanced mix of home, community visits, and clinic spaces with strong supervision and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current Occupational Therapy membership with AHPRA.
• Experience as an Occupational Therapist or Senior Occupational Therapist beyond graduation.
• Passionate about community‑based support for people with disability.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload.
• Thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
• Desire to mentor graduates and early career clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Manage an allocated caseload (based on negotiated hours) and deliver timely therapeutic services.
• Assess participants’ developmental, cognitive, emotional, psychological and physical function and capacity through clinical observations and standardised assessments.
• Interpret findings to formulate treatment goals unique to each participant.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help participants enhance their quality of life and meet their goals.
• Maintain awareness of current legislation to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to support participant outcomes.
• Caseload will be tailored to your experience, interests and professional goals.
• Support the growth and development of graduates and early career clinicians.
