Your impact

Jacobs Studies team is seeking a dynamic Senior or Associate Earthing Engineer to join our innovative consultancy, based in one of our Australian offices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a highly regarded and specialised team, delivering diverse projects across multiple sectors throughout ANZ and globally. We are open to candidates who are looking to further specialise in this field and have a strong earthing background within the HV industry.

Key Areas of Focus
  • Deliver earthing studies and design, including Earthing & Bonding, Lightning Performance, Earth Potential Rise (EPR), Low Frequency Induction (LFI), Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF), and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) analysis.
  • Lead and contribute to high-quality technical deliverables using software such as CDEGS and PSCAD.
  • Act as a technical lead on projects, undertaking checking and review activities while supporting quality assurance and technical excellence.
  • Support bids and business development activities, partnering with Client Account Managers to secure new opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, helping to grow Jacobs' capability in earthing and electromagnetic studies.
  • Undertake site inspections and testing activities, including soil resistivity testing, current injection testing, and EMF/EMI measurements.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Section Leaders to deliver technically sound and commercially successful outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients across public and private sector projects.
  • Team leadership experience is not a requirement for this role. However, candidates with demonstrated leadership capabilities may have opportunities to provide team leadership support (approximately 10-15% of the role), including workload balancing, day-to-day guidance, staff development conversations, onboarding activities, and team engagement initiatives.
Here's what you'll need
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering earthing studies across sectors such as substations, transmission, rail, water, mining, airports, industrial facilities, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software tools such as CDEGS and PSCAD.
  • Strong technical report writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A commitment to quality, risk management, and delivering high-quality technical outcomes.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers within a collaborative team environment.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across global delivery teams.
  • Willingness to undertake field work, site inspections, and testing activities as required.
  • Demonstrated team leadership or people management experience would be highly regarded but is not essential. Candidates with leadership capabilities may have opportunities to support workload planning, team coordination, staff development, and broader team leadership activities across the ANZ region.
