Job summary

Alinta Energy is seeking a Senior Operational Technology Engineer to protect and enhance the technology behind our power generation assets. You will report to the OT Manager and work at the intersection of control systems, OT networks and cybersecurity to strengthen resilience and reliability across our generation portfolio.

This role offers the chance to shape a growing capability, work with cutting-edge technologies, and be a trusted technical specialist in a high-visibility environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Control Systems, Instrumentation, Automation Engineering or related.
• Strong experience in Operational Technology within power generation, utilities, mining, manufacturing or similar environments.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, industrial networks and control system architectures.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist engineering support across PLCs, SCADA systems, control systems, instrumentation and OT networks.
• Lead and support OT cybersecurity initiatives, including system monitoring, access management, risk mitigation and incident response activities.
• Partner with site operations, engineering, technology and cybersecurity teams to solve complex technical challenges and improve operational outcomes.
• Support the delivery of strategic OT programs and projects that strengthen the security, reliability and resilience of critical infrastructure.
• Drive continuous improvement through technical problem-solving, documentation, standardisation and stakeholder collaboration.

What You’ll Do

Your Experience

• Degree-qualified in Electrical, Control Systems, Instrumentation, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in Operational Technology, Control Systems or Industrial Automation within power generation, utilities, mining, manufacturing or similar industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, industrial networks and control system architectures.
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles, network security and critical infrastructure environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical outcomes and build trusted working relationships.
