Job summary

Evolution Mining Northparkes Operations is seeking a Senior Mine Planning Engineer to lead the design, establishment and delivery of a new open pit from project development through production, ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable mining performance.

Reporting to the Open Pit Mining Superintendent, you will develop short- and medium-term schedules, set planning standards and governance, identify risks and work with engineering, survey, geology and production teams to optimise outcomes.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in open pit mine planning and scheduling.
• Strong capability with Deswik Scheduler and mine planning software.
• Experience developing mine designs and production schedules.
• Ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.
• Strong communication, problem solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with Vulcan is highly regarded.
• Exposure to ShotPlus or drill and blast design software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead mine planning activities for a new open pit operation.
• Establish planning standards, systems and governance frameworks for a new mining operation.
• Develop and optimise short- and medium-term mine schedules that maximise production outcomes, operational efficiency and project value.
• Identify mining and project risks, develop practical solutions and provide technical input to key operational and strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with contractors, survey, geology, processing and operational teams to achieve safe and successful project outcomes.
• Contribute to technical studies, project evaluations and future growth opportunities across Northparkes’ open pit portfolio.
• Play a key role in the successful transition from project development to operations through effective planning, execution and continuous improvement initiatives.
