Job summary

Talent is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer in Sydney for a 12-month contract to lead FortiGate firewall and F5 BIG-IP initiatives within a large financial services environment. The role involves hands-on builds, configuration, and design work across firewall, load-balancing, and network infrastructure.

You will develop high-level and detailed security designs, assess risks, and advise stakeholders while operating in a hybrid model with weekly in-office days in Sydney.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant vendor certifications.
• Extensive network and security engineering experience in large, complex environments, ideally in financial services.
• Advanced hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls (builds, configuration, routing, security policies, compliance).
• Strong F5 experience across LTM, GTM and APM, including load-balancing, proxies and auth profiles.
• Enterprise routing and switching expertise (BGP, OSPF, etc.).
• Experience developing high-level and detailed network security designs.
• Knowledge of IPS/IDS technologies, including policy configuration, implementation and event analysis.
• Automation using Python, Ansible or Terraform.
• Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work autonomously within a collaborative team.

A leading financial services provider is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer with advanced FortiGate and F5 expertise to join its team on an initial twelve-month contract.

Joining a collaborative network security engineering team, you will deliver network security changes and project initiatives across a large, complex enterprise environment. This hands-on role will involve building, configuring, deploying and upgrading firewall, load-balancing and network infrastructure, as well as improving performance, resilience and security.

You will also produce high-level and detailed designs, assess technical risks and provide specialist advice to technology and business stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will need:

• Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant vendor certifications
• Extensive network and security engineering experience gained within large, complex environments, ideally within financial services
• Advanced hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls, including builds, configuration, routing, security policies and compliance
• Strong F5 experience across LTM, GTM and APM, including load-balancing solutions, proxies and authentication profiles
• Enterprise routing and switching expertise covering technologies such as BGP, OSPF etc
