Job summary

Optus Enterprise in Sydney is seeking a senior network engineer to lead fault resolution and incident management across multi-vendor IP networks. You will collaborate with internal teams, vendors and service providers to implement strategies, onboarding, and ongoing improvements.

You will apply deep knowledge of BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, MPLS and QoS, and leverage Python/Ansible for automation. This role requires ownership, leadership, and strong communication to business leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• 10+ years' hands-on experience in maintaining and troubleshooting multi-vendor IP and/or Carrier Ethernet networks.
• Solid understanding of IP and Carrier Ethernet protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, LDP, SR) and QoS.
• Experience with automation tools (Python, Ansible) is highly desirable.
• Vendor certifications (CCNP, NRS II) are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead resolution of complex or high-severity network faults, especially when not resolvable by suppliers.
• Provide technical oversight during major incidents to restore service quickly.
• Manage escalations from Service Assurance, prioritising critical incidents.
• Conduct end-to-end problem management with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Drive network design changes to improve quality, reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, managed services, and vendors on strategy and improvements.
• Review architecture/design to ensure operability and supportability.
• Analyse service levels and KPIs to identify improvement actions.
• Deliver training on tools, technologies, and practices to staff and partners.
