Job summary

Department of Education Victoria in Melbourne seeks a Senior Network Administrator to provide authoritative technical expertise, maintenance, and strategic administration for the core network infrastructure. Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in network support or administration.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF).
• Experience with enterprise network technologies (Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, Zscaler).
• Experience administering firewalls and applying security best practices.
• Familiar with monitoring/diagnostic tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve escalated network incidents with minimal service disruption.
• Investigate recurring issues, identify root causes and implement actions.
• Administer switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points and related services.
• Monitor performance and optimize configurations to meet SLAs.
• Apply patches and firmware updates per change-management processes.
• Configure devices across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Support network expansions, migrations and upgrades.
• Monitor security alerts and mitigate risks.
• Maintain documentation and provide guidance to Level 1 support.
• Identify opportunities for automation and resilience improvements.
