Firmus Technologies Pty Ltd. in Australia is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer (Senior) to lead design and deployment of AI infrastructure networks for our global projects.

You will shape our network architectures and drive reliability across on-prem and cloud-connected environments. The role emphasizes IaC automation, security, and collaboration with security/risk teams, vendors, and cross-functional groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in network engineering, computer science, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in network engineering focusing on AI infrastructure.
• Experience in Linux systems, especially host network configuration.
• Strong project management skills for complex technical projects.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Willingness to travel internationally and domestically.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of NVIDIA InfiniBand, Spectrum Ethernet, RoCE is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain network infrastructure.
• Architect, deploy, support the corporate LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN infrastructure.
• Ensure high availability, performance and security of on-premise and cloud-connected network services.
• Setup, configure and maintain secure site-to-site VPNs, MPLS links, or private interconnects between data centres, customer site, cloud environments and partner networks.
• Develop and maintain automated network configurations using IaC tools (e.g., Ansible, Netbox, Python scripts).
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for network changes to improve speed, consistency, and auditability.
• Automate routine tasks such as provisioning, backups and compliance checks.
• Implement and manage firewall and security devices. Apply firewall rules, VLAN segmentation, ACLs and zero-trust principles.
• Collaborate with SMC Security and Risk team to enforce policies and respond to security incidents.
• Respond and resolve elevated network issues, outages and performance degradations.
• Analyze logs, run diagnostics and coordinate with vendors, carriers as needed.
• Work with observability team to setup and maintain monitoring tools.
• Analyze bandwidth and growth trends to inform scaling and procurement decisions.
• Design and rest redundant paths, failover mechanisms and DR playbooks.
• Participate in operation standby roster and on-call.
• Support deployment team in project management and resource allocation.
