Job summary

Compnow is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with Juniper Mist expertise to lead national rollout of network infrastructure for a large retail store network. You will deploy firewalls, switches and wireless access points, coordinating with customers, project managers and field teams to ensure safe, timely and high-quality site completions.

• Significant hands-on experience in network engineering and implementation.
• Strong Juniper Mist capability or ability to develop Mist capability quickly.
• Practical installation experience across firewalls, switching and wireless access points.

• Strong troubleshooting across wireless, switching and firewall technologies.
• Ability to work autonomously onsite while following standardised build, safety and configuration processes.
• Strong communication skills representing Compnow at customer locations.
• Organised approach to site schedules, travel and competing priorities.
• Juniper Mist certifications are highly regarded.
• Experience with managed services, systems integration, automation, templating or retail network security is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure and commission firewalls, switches and wireless access points across a national retail store network.
• Manage the Juniper Mist platform across Wi‑Fi, firewall and switching, including onboarding, templates, policies and configuration.
• Complete onsite installations, including device installation, cabling checks, testing and customer handover.
• Deliver staged rollouts, migrations and upgrades to agreed schedules while minimising disruption to store operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and technical escalations during and after deployment.
• Coordinate site access, scheduling and readiness with the customer, project managers and field teams.
• Maintain accurate site records, configuration standards, as-built documentation and rollout trackers.
• Share Juniper Mist knowledge with engineering colleagues and contribute to broader team capability.
• Improve the consistency, repeatability and efficiency of deployment processes across sites.

What you'll do?

As a Senior Network Engineer specialising in Juniper Mist, you’ll lead the hands-on rollout of network infrastructure across a national retail store network. Working with the customer, project managers, field teams and engineering colleagues, you’ll deploy firewalls, switches and wireless access points while ensuring each site is completed safely, consistently and with minimal disruption. This role will suit an experienced implementation engineer who enjoys field-based delivery, technical problem-solving and taking ownership of multi-site deployments.

• Deploy, configure and commission firewalls, switches and wireless access points across a large retail store network.
• Manage the Juniper Mist platform across Wi-Fi, firewall and switching, including onboarding, templates, policies and configuration.
• Complete onsite installations, including device installation, cabling checks, testing and customer handover.

What you'll bring?

• Strong Juniper Mist capability, or demonstrated ability to develop advanced Mist capability quickly.
• Practical installation experience across firewalls, switching and wireless access points.
• Experience delivering multi-site rollouts in project-based and customer-facing environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across wireless, switching and firewall technologies.
• The ability to work autonomously onsite while following standardised build, safety and configuration processes.
• Strong communication skills and confidence representing Compnow at customer locations.
• An organised and proactive approach to site schedules, travel and competing priorities.
• Juniper Mist, Juniper Networks Certified Associate or Juniper Networks Certified Specialist certification will be highly regarded.
• Managed service provider, systems integrator, automation, templating, monitoring or retail network security experience will be advantageous.

What else do you need to apply?

• Travel on-site to our client's site in Melbourne, our office in Notting Hill and work in a hybrid capacity.
• Must be an Australian resident available to work full time hours without restrictions.

Compnow will provide and require all successful applicants to complete a current National Police Check as well as a new or updated state-based Working With Children Check.
