Megaport, located in Australia, is searching for a Senior Engineer to enhance their Perl-based network automation systems and internal tools. You will lead a team, manage technical debt, and develop secure RESTful APIs while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience using Perl and frameworks like Mojolicious.
• Experience with relational databases using SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Working knowledge of distributed datastores and NoSQL, like Cassandra.
• Proven experience building backend services within web application ecosystems.
• Ability to act as a technical lead for small projects with architectural design guidance.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across various audiences.
• Sharp logical reasoning skills with clear communication of complex concepts.
• Experience maintaining scalable, secure REST APIs.
• Knowledge of networking concepts such as IP routing and MPLS.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to enhancing existing Perl code for network automation systems.
• Identify and reduce technical debt, improve system performance and reliability.
• Build and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs.
• Play a key role in the release process, including test writing and CI/CD improvements.
• Support junior engineers through mentoring and code reviews.
