Job summary

AARNet is seeking an experienced network architect to join the Network Architecture team. The role focuses on designing and deploying evolutions to the AARNet network and related systems, with travel across Australia.

The successful candidate will present technical customer solutions and work independently to solve issues as they arise. Responsibilities include developing network strategies, implementing detailed designs, advancing automation, conducting security reviews, and providing

Qualifications

10+ years in IT&T industry.
Carrier-grade MPLS/IP/Ethernet/DWDM and data centre networking experience.
Experience in designing, securing and deploying large campus or national scale networks desirable.
Unix/Linux experience desirable.
SDN, network management, automation and orchestration scripting experience desirable.
Experience with cloud integrations and private cloud connectivity desirable.
Able to work in deployment teams and lead engineers/contractors.
Australian resident; degree in Engineering/Telecommunications or related field; valid driver’s license; security clearance advantageous.

Responsibilities

Develop network, security and technology strategies across cross-organisational teams.
Design and implement detailed evolutions to the network architecture.
Develop network automation and orchestration capabilities.
Conduct security reviews and uplift; provide cost analyses for proposed technologies.
Write and maintain operational documentation.
Engage with vendors and customers to define requirements and opportunities.
Lead project plans, milestones and field deployments when required.
Mentor engineers and educate staff on new technologies.
