Job summary

SixPivot Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced consultant to join as a project lead. You will guide client initiatives, shape software solutions in the Microsoft stack, and mentor teams across engagements.

Based in Australia, you will drive technical and business conversations, own project delivery, and promote modern software practices while maintaining autonomy and impact.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a consultancy (not contract gigs).
• Have led teams and owned projects, especially in the .NET stack.
• Able to steer technical and non-technical conversations with stakeholders.
• Must reside in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects and consult with clients, shaping solutions to meet business goals.
• Mentor peers and development teams, sharing best practices.

What the job's like

We're a consultancy and will check in with you on what projects you prefer and for how long. There's a variety from long term projects spanning over multiple years, to short term projects for 6 months. We always revisit what works best - and there will never be a situation where you get dropped into a project every other week (unless that's what you want).

The nice thing about being a consultant is you'll have the ability to shape and evolve projects that work for you and the client. Our will clients trust you and your advice, CTO's and CIO's will listen to your suggestions and take them on board. Here you'll enjoy seeing a project through to success, and the impact of your work.

Mentoring will be a great part of your job and you'll get to help your peers at SixPivot, as well as the development teams and managers from our clients. On many projects, our clientshaven't had the chance to work with a breadth of technology, and you'll be part of guiding them toward best software development practices. You'll get to own the project and solve the problem. We want you to have your own ideas, roll them out and execute with little red tape in your way. You're really going to like working with us if you enjoy driving change in your team and introducing new concepts.

The tech side of things

Our projects are in the Microsoft stack, think .NET and C#

With AI, we use like Copilot, Junie, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT - whichever our customer approves really

On the front we use React, Vue, Angular (whichever is the right fit for the job really). We're big fans of TypeScript and use it whenever we can

Every project has CI/CD pipelines. We like Azure DevOps, TeamCity or Octopus Deploy (again whichever is best for the job and the customer)

In the world of clouds, we like Azure but we wouldn't turn down AWS or GCP either

Testing? Yes. We're big fans and get excited by a well written unit test

We work in the ways of agile

What we need from you

• You have previous experience consulting, in a consultancy (not contract gigs)
• You've been a Team Lead before and have expertise in the .NET stack as well as a range of technologies
• You enjoy and are skilled in steering technical and non-technical conversations with stakeholders
• You live in Australia
