Job summary

Guardian Australia is seeking a Motion Graphics Designer to join its editorial team in Sydney or Melbourne. The role focuses on producing motion graphics and animation for video and social formats, and developing templates aligned with Guardian style.

You will work closely with video producers, editors, journalists and designers to deliver engaging visual journalism, across on- and off-platform projects, with occasional training and a hybrid working arrangement.

Qualifications

• At least four years of professional experience creating high-quality motion graphics and animation.
• Strong typography, color, composition and brand skills.
• Interest in data visualization and explanatory design.
• Experience developing new video formats and explainers.
• Ability to collaborate with video producers, editors and designers.

Responsibilities

• Design motion graphics and animation for videos published on and off platform.
• Create audience-focused animations and explanatory graphics for one-off video productions.
• Build graphics templates for video producers and editors to use.
• Maintain Guardian style and brand across graphics and templates.
• Liaise with producers, editors, journalists and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to interactive journalism projects as required.
• Undertake training as required.
