Guardian Australia is seeking a head of design to lead our visual and editorial design team in a fast-paced newsroom environment. You will be hands-on with editorial design and visual storytelling, collaborating across Australia and Guardian’s global network.

This role requires at least eight years in digital editorial design, strong leadership, and the ability to mentor designers and visual journalists while ensuring high standards across web, apps and emerging formats.

Qualifications

• Eight years’ experience in digital editorial design and visual storytelling.
• Experience leading a multidisciplinary design team in a newsroom environment.
• Ability to mentor designers and visual journalists through iterative processes.

Responsabilités

• Lead a multidisciplinary visual and editorial design team across print/online formats.
• Collaborate with editors, journalists, photographers, developers and creatives to shape visual narratives.
• Ensure accessibility, usability and editorial quality across platforms and devices.
• Influence design direction and contribute to broader visual strategy with leadership.
