Job summary

AGRF is Australia's leading genomics service provider based in Sydney. We are seeking a Senior Molecular Laboratory Scientist to lead complex workflows, mentor staff and deliver world-class genomics services. Initial onboarding takes place at Westmead, with subsequent duties at the Kolling Institute.

You will drive advanced genomics projects, oversee NGS workflows, and collaborate with researchers and clients to ensure exceptional outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or Honours qualification in Molecular Biology or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, or extensive equivalent experience in a molecular laboratory environment.
• Strong experience with Next Generation Sequencing and/or other high-throughput genomics technologies.
• Advanced understanding of molecular biology techniques and demonstrated troubleshooting capability.
• Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Molecular Laboratory Scientist, you will be the technical expert across a range of advanced genomics workflows, leading complex laboratory processes, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional client outcomes.

Working closely with laboratory leadership, you will contribute to operational excellence while helping introduce and optimise new technologies and services.

About You

You are an experienced molecular scientist who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving processes, and helping others succeed.

To be successful, you will bring:

Essential

• Degree or Honours qualification in Molecular Biology or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, or extensive equivalent experience in a molecular laboratory environment
• Strong experience with Next Generation Sequencing and/or other high-throughput genomics technologies
• Advanced understanding of molecular biology techniques and demonstrated troubleshooting capability

Desirable

• Experience working in a NATA-accredited or similarly regulated laboratory environment
