Job summary

Atlassian is seeking a Senior Machine Learning System Engineer to build and refine core AI infrastructure used by Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket. You will design, deploy, and operate ML pipelines, collaborating with product teams to solve real-world challenges and deliver scalable AI features.

You will lead technical design efforts, mentor peers, and drive initiatives spanning multiple projects. A strong ML and software engineering background is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of general software engineering experience with 2+ years in building ML infra/Platform/Systems.
• ML lifecycle expertise: deploying and maintaining end-to-end ML systems.
• Large-scale system design for ML.
• Proficiency with Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX).
• MLOps and automation: CI/CD pipelines and automation for training, deployment, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teammates from design to launch.
• Deliver code reviews, documentation & bug fixes.
• Partner across engineering teams for company-wide initiatives.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Lead projects from technical design to launch.
