Job summary

The Senior Mining Engineer – Short Term Planning at Glencore Australia is based in Mt Isa, QLD, and will lead the preparation and delivery of short-term mine designs to support safe, efficient development, production, and infrastructure activities.

You will translate longer-term plans into executable short-term strategies, provide technical leadership to the mining team, and optimise drill and blast design and overall mine planning to achieve production targets.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related subject.
• Minimum 6–8 years mining engineering experience, preferably within underground hard rock operations.
• Demonstrated experience in short-term mine planning, drill and blast design, and operational mine design.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams, graduates, or cadets.
• Strong understanding of underground mining methods and production processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the preparation and delivery of short-term mine designs and plans.
• Translate medium- and long-term mine plans into practical short-term execution strategies.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the mining engineering team.
• Optimise mine design, planning and drill and blast practices.
