Job summary

Genesis Minerals is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to coordinate and provide technical expertise for our Open Pit mining operations in the Leonora district, WA. The role is offered on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth to Leonora, with town-based accommodation and on-site facilities.

Reporting to the Open Pit Manager, you will deliver production targets, plan and optimise mine designs, and lead technical personnel to support robust production functions onsite.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Quarry Manager’s Certificate highly regarded.
• Sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements in mining.

Responsibilities

• Manage the delivery of short and medium term production targets.
• Assist with management of the in-house open pit contractor to achieve short and long term targets.
• Plan, design, review, adjust and optimise designs and plans to ensure timely and cost‑effective delivery.
• Plan, review and adjust mine designs to ensure approved mine plans are issued to operations.
• Develop and maintain mine technical services systems, processes and standards for robust production functions.
• Ensure mine infrastructure is accounted for in all mine schedules and projects.
• Develop Life of Mine designs and provide information for feasible schedules.
• Provide leadership to technical personnel and manage resources for the wider team.

Genesis Minerals is seeking to employ a Senior Mining Engineer to provide coordination and technical expertise for the mining activities of our Open Pit mining operations. This role is offered on 8 days on, 6 days off Fly In Fly Out roster from Perth to Leonora. Town based established accommodation camp in Leonora with great camp faculties including, gym and bar as well as town faculties.

Reporting to the Open Pit Manager, responsibilities of this role will include;

The Opportunity

• Manage the delivery of short and medium term production targets;
• Assist with management of the in-house open pit contractor to achieve both short and long term production targets;
• Plan, design, review, adjust and optimise designs and plans such as development, drill and blast and project items to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of production targets and projects;
• Plan, review and adjust mine designs to ensure timely provision of approved mine plans for issue to operational personnel;
• Assist in establishing mine technical services systems, processes, systems and standards, to deliver robust production functions for the project. The systems established must ensure effective consultation with all technical service departments including geology and surveying;
• Ensure that mine infrastructure requirements are adequately accounted for in all mine schedules and that infrastructure projects are comprehensively scoped, specified, procured, resourced and installed as required by the mine schedule;
• Assist in the development of ‘Life of Mine’ designs including the provision of information that ensures designs and schedules are reasonable and achievable;
• Provide leadership and guidance to technical personnel and manage the resources for which you are responsible such that support is available to the wider RGP team; and
• Reasonable duties as required to ensure smooth operation of the mine.

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline
• Quarry Manager’s Certificate (highly regarded)
• Sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining
• Technical expertise in relation to Open Pit mine design, drill and blast and mine planning
• Proficient with computer scheduling software (Deswik will be highly regarded)
• Operational site based mining experience (preferably gold) and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment
