Job summary

Joblin Partners Pty Ltd is partnering with a well-backed Australian resources company in North Queensland. They seek an operational Senior Mine Surveyor to deliver safe, accurate surveying across open-pit mining activities and support production decisions.

Working with mining, production and technical services teams, you will manage day-to-day survey priorities, maintain control networks, and guide junior survey personnel. FIFO rosters available across multiple options.

Qualifications

• Mine-surveying experience in open-pit mining.
• Practical capability across survey control, pickups, set-outs, volumes, reconciliation and production support.
• Exposure to drone surveying, data processing or Virtual Surveyor would be advantageous.
• Experience with Trimble equipment and Deswik software is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day survey function across active open-pit mining areas, balancing production priorities and project requirements.
• Maintain survey control networks, benchmarks, site datum systems and accurate spatial records.
• Deliver production pickups, set-outs and mark-ups supporting drill and blast, dig limits, haul roads, dumps, stockpiles and infrastructure.
• Process survey and drone data to produce accurate plans, surfaces, models, volume calculations and end-of-month reconciliation reports.
• Monitor mining progress against approved designs, communicate deviations and provide dependable information to operational and technical teams.
• Maintain high standards of safety, accuracy and data integrity while guiding junior survey personnel.

The operation is entering an exciting period of renewed activity, with the business investing in its people, technical capability and mining infrastructure to support production growth and future development.

The site operates with a close-knit team and a practical, hands-on culture where individuals can take ownership, influence outcomes and work directly with operational decision-makers.

This is a lean mining environment offering broad exposure across day-to-day production, technical services and ongoing site projects. It presents an excellent opportunity to join a growing copper producer and contribute during an important phase in the operation’s development.

The Opportunity

This is an operational Senior Mine Surveyor position responsible for the safe, accurate and timely delivery of surveying services across the site’s open-pit mining activities.

Working closely with mining, production and technical services teams, you will manage day-to-day survey priorities and provide reliable information that supports operational execution and decision-making.

The position is ideally suited to a practical surveyor who enjoys being involved in the operation, solving problems and contributing directly to production outcomes. You will also provide guidance and support to junior survey personnel while maintaining a strong personal presence across both field and technical activities.

The role is offered on a FIFO roster (multiple rosters to choose from).

Requirements & Qualifications

We are seeking a proactive, hands-on mine surveyor who is comfortable working in an active production environment and contributing wherever required.

You will ideally bring:

• Demonstrated mine-surveying experience within an open-pit mining operation.
• Strong practical capability across survey control, pickups, set-outs, volumes, reconciliation and production support.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in surveying or spatial science is highly regarded but not essential.
• Exposure to Trimble survey equipment and Deswik software is highly preferred.
• Experience with drone surveying, data processing or Virtual Surveyor would be advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, accurate record-keeping and a commitment to data integrity.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operators, mining teams and technical professionals.
• A proactive, self-sufficient approach and a willingness to contribute to the operation day to day.

This is a non-registered position, and statutory survey registration is not required.
