OceanaGold Corporation in Brisbane seeks a Senior Microsoft Security Specialist to own Microsoft 365 and Azure security across identity, data protection and threat detection. You will work under the Head of Information Security, shaping identity protection, threat detection and security governance across the platform and AI integrations.

This role combines hands-on technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration to enhance security controls, incident response and privilege management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years in enterprise information or cybersecurity roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Defender XDR and Purview.
• Experience administering privileged access management.
• Experience supporting enterprise certificate services.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical expertise across Microsoft Entra ID components.
• Lead maturity of Entra ID Protection and Zero Trust architecture.
• Drive improvements across Defender XDR and Sentinel including playbooks and alerts.
• Support complex identity and security incidents, including threat hunting and remediation.
• Manage relationship with MSSP and drive continual security improvements.
• Strengthen privileged access and identity management capabilities.
• Lead implementation of Microsoft Purview including DLP and Information Protection.
• Contribute to governance controls supporting AI technologies and Copilot.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring within Information Security.

Job Description

The Senior Microsoft Security Specialist is akey technical role within OceanaGold’s Information Security team in Brisbane, providing deep expertise across the Microsoft security and identityecosystem.

Reporting to the Head of Information Security, the position has significant technical ownership across Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Purview, privileged access management and enterprise certificate services.

Sitting at the intersection of Information Security and Infrastructure, the role will influence the design and ongoing maturity of identity protection, threat detection and response, privileged access, data governance and security controls across the Microsoft 365 and Azure environment. The position will also contribute to the development of security and governance controls supporting Microsoft Copilot and broader AIadoption.

Key Responlibilities

• Provide senior technical expertise across Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access, hybrid identity, identity governance, entitlement management and application integrations.
• Lead the continued maturity of Entra ID Protection, risk-based access controls and Zero Trust architecture.
• Drive improvements across Microsoft Defender XDR and Microsoft Sentinel, including detection use cases, automation, playbooks and alert optimisation.
• Provide advanced technical support for complex identity and security incidents, including threat hunting, containment and remediation.
• Manage the technical relationship with the managed security services provider, supporting continuous improvement across detection andresponse.
• Strengthen privileged access and identity management capabilities, including least-privilege accessmodels.
• Support the ongoing maturity of enterprise certificate services and certificate lifecyclemanagement.
• Lead the technical implementation of Microsoft Purview, including Data Loss Prevention, Information Protection and Insider RiskManagement.
• Contribute to security and governance controls supporting Microsoft Copilot and other AI technologies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring across the Information Security team, building broader capability across Microsoft security technologies.
• Represent Information Security across technical forums, technology partners and cross-functional security initiatives.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or arelated field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Minimum 5 years experience in enterprise information or cybersecurity roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Defender XDR and MicrosoftPurview.
• Experience administering privileged access management or privileged identity managementsolutions.
• Experience supporting enterprise certificate services.
• Experience working with infrastructure or platform teams at an advanced technical supportlevel.
• Exposure to managed security service providers, security operations, incident response and securityreporting.
• Strong documentation, collaboration and technical mentoringskills.
