Job summary

Broken Hill Mines in Broken Hill, NSW, is seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist to join the Processing team. The role focuses on coordinating metallurgical activities, improving plant performance and delivering continuous improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Processing Manager, you will oversee metallurgical accounting, test work, and collaboration with external stakeholders, with a Monday to Friday roster and housing/relocation support.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or Mineral Processing.
• At least 4 years' experience in base metals mineral processing.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with metallurgical accounting and plant performance analysis.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to identify hazards and undertake risk assessments.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills.
• Australian Driver Licence or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and supporting metallurgical activities across the processing plant.
• Reviewing plant performance and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Assisting with metallurgical accounting and monthly reporting.
• Developing and coordinating metallurgical test work.
• Promoting safety and best practice across departments.
• Mentoring laboratory and graduate personnel.
