Job summary

AECOM’s Water Infrastructure group is growing and seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our South-East Queensland team. You’ll lead mechanical design across water and wastewater projects and mentor engineers, contributing to a high-performing, safety-focused delivery culture.

You’ll work with Australia and New Zealand specialists and be part of a flexible, hybrid work environment, with an emphasis on technical excellence and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary degree, CPEng & RPEQ.
• Extensive mechanical design experience in water and/or wastewater projects within a dynamic consulting and design environment.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and multidisciplinary teams, using strong commercial acumen and business analysis skills to deliver successful outcomes.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an ability build relationships and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders at varying levels.
• Commercial and strategic acumen, with the ability to make informed decisions that balance profitability, efficiency, and market insight.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review mechanical design delivery across major water, wastewater, and conveyance projects.
• Ensure technical and delivery excellence, maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, governance, and client satisfaction.
• Guide and mentor engineers and designers, contributing to the growth of our talent pipeline whilst focusing on technical excellence.
• Build and maintain strong relationships working with various clients across a range of sectors.
