Job summary

PeopleStart Group in Australia is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering projects in the resource sector. The role is Perth-based with national scale support, an inclusive culture, and the right technology to enable exciting project work.

The ideal candidate will lead projects from concept to detailed design, mentor engineers, ensure safety and standards compliance, and build strong client relationships across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
• Exposure to materials handling related design projects in Greenfields and Brownfields.
• Strong background in bulk materials handling, including conveyor design, transfer chute design, slurry and piping systems.
• Experience in construction, commissioning and/or operations in bulk materials or minerals processing industries.
• Experience across commodities from nickel to iron ore.
• Ability to work across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and processing disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on projects delivering high-quality mechanical solutions.
• Lead projects from concept through detailed design and deliverables.
• Execute mechanical engineering across materials handling, conveyors, transfer chutes, DEM modelling, equipment selection, piping and slurry systems.
• Prepare, review and approve engineering calculations, technical documentation and designs to AS standards.
• Mentor and support mechanical engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships, contributing to proposals and tenders.
• Monitor budgets, schedules and quality, and manage smaller projects when required.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering systems and safety through risk assessments, HAZOPs and SiD reviews.
