Job summary

EMtek Pty Ltd in Adelaide is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership on diverse mining and resources projects. This full-time role supports concept through detailed design, across bulk materials handling, conveyors, piping, and slurry systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years' experience in mechanical engineering within the mining and resources sector.
• Strong background in bulk materials handling, including conveyor design, transfer chute design, and slurry and piping systems.
• Experience across construction, commissioning and/or operations in bulk materials or minerals processing industries.
• Experience across varied commodity types (iron ore, nickel, gold, copper, coal).

• Lead mechanical engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and finished deliverables.
• Execute mechanical engineering across materials handling, conveyors, transfer chutes, DEM modelling, equipment selection, piping and slurry systems.
• Prepare, review and approve engineering calculations, technical documentation and designs with compliance to standards.
• Mentor and support engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships for proposals and project delivery.
• Monitor budgets, schedules and quality; manage smaller projects where required.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering systems with Safety in Design (SiD) and risk assessments.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide support in a diverse role within a professional but friendly environment. This is a full-time position based in our Adelaide Office.

The position will include but not be limited to:

Provide technical leadership on EMtek projects, delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions that meet client and project requirements.

Lead mechanical engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and completed engineering deliverables.

Execute mechanical engineering across materials handling, conveyors, transfer chutes, DEM modelling, equipment selection, piping and slurry systems.

Prepare, review and approve engineering calculations, technical documentation and designs, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, company procedures and project requirements.

Mentor and support mechanical engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, contributing technical input to proposals, tenders and project delivery.

Monitor project budgets, schedules and quality, and manage smaller projects where required.

Drive continuous improvement of engineering systems and processes while maintaining a strong focus on safety through risk assessments, HAZOPs and Safety in Design (SiD) reviews.

Skills and Experience

Minimum 7 years' experience in mechanical engineering within the mining and resources sector

Strong background in bulk materials handling, including conveyor design, transfer chute design, and slurry and piping systems

Practical experience in construction, commissioning and/or operations in the bulk materials or minerals processing industries

Experience across varied commodity types (e.g. iron ore, nickel, gold, copper, coal)

Ability to work across multiple disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and process
