Job summary

DCI Data Centers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering across development, delivery and operations for its Sydney portfolio. You will collaborate with internal teams, customers, consultants and vendors to shape design and delivery of critical infrastructure.

You’ll review and optimize cooling systems, develop engineering standards, and guide procurement, construction and commissioning while supporting sustainability initiatives and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years’ experience across data centres, mission-critical facilities, industrial or large-scale infrastructure environments.
• Strong experience with critical mechanical infrastructure and cooling technologies, including chillers, cooling towers, liquid-cooled deployments and associated controls.
• Experience across concept and detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Experience managing engineering consultants, vendors and specialist contractors.
• Strong technical judgement with the ability to balance engineering, commercial and operational considerations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build credibility across diverse teams.
• Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions and design reviews.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status or equivalent accreditation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing mechanical engineering leadership across development, delivery and operational activities.
• Leading the reviewing and optimisation of critical mechanical systems, including cooling infrastructure, controls, hydraulics and fire protection.
• Developing and improving engineering standards, specifications and design guidelines across DCI’s APAC portfolio.
• Reviewing consultant and contractor designs to ensure alignment with DCI standards, operational requirements and customer expectations.
• Evaluating emerging cooling technologies and innovative solutions that improve reliability, efficiency and scalability.
• Supporting technical due diligence for new developments, acquisitions and operational assets.
• Providing engineering oversight across design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Supporting contractor selection, tender evaluations, technical reviews and equipment procurement.
• Participating in design reviews, factory and site acceptance testing, and integrated systems testing as required.
• Partnering with customers, consultants, contractors, vendors and internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Supporting DCI’s sustainability objectives through energy-efficient and environmentally responsible engineering solutions.
