Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a Brisbane-based mining project. The role involves leading mechanical activities from concept through to detailed design within an EPCM framework and providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

The candidate will have 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, mandatory RPEQ registration, and desirable CPEng. Hybrid working arrangement with a 12-month contract and ongoing potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• RPEQ registration mandatory.
• CPEng or equivalent registration desirable.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Strong experience in Mining, Minerals & Metals projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities from concept through FEED to detailed design and project delivery.
• Prepare and review calculations, specifications, datasheets, and technical reports.
• Develop equipment specifications, procurement packages, and manage vendor interfaces.
• Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
• Support procurement, cost estimating, scheduling, change management, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Maintain relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a major mining and minerals project based in Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale studies, FEED, and detailed design projects within a collaborative EPCM environment. You will be responsible for leading mechanical engineering activities from concept through to detailed design while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities from concept, FEED, and detailed design through project delivery.
• Prepare and review calculations, specifications, datasheets, and technical reports.
• Develop equipment specifications, procurement packages, and manage vendor interfaces.
• Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
• Support procurement, cost estimating, scheduling, change management, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
