Job summary

AWMA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead independent designs aligned with project scope and deadlines. Proficient SolidWorks capability and first-principles mechanical engineering will ensure AWMA products meet high quality, functionality and manufacturability standards.

The role supports the design team as a technical authority, with occasional travel to head office in Cohuna, Victoria. Remote work option available for an experienced engineer.

Qualifications

• Advanced SolidWorks 3D modelling and drafting skills.
• Strong capability in mechanical engineering first principles.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Interpret briefs to size and specify product configurations.
• Apply engineering principles to load cases, standards and failure modes.
• Develop the engineering basis for GA and product configurations.
• Produce high-quality submittals for client and third‑party review.
• Prepare complete drawing packages including GA, fabrication drawings and BOM.
• Ensure tolerances and manufacturability are considered.
