Job summary

AWMA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver engineered designs remotely, applying strong SolidWorks capabilities and first-principles mechanical engineering to ensure high quality, functional and manufacturable products. The role supports the wider Engineering and Design team and may act as the technical authority on the product.

Travel to head office in Cohuna, Victoria is occasional; the position requires independent work to meet project scope and deadlines while maintaining

Qualifications

• Experience applying mechanical engineering principles to design tasks.
• Ability to independently size and specify product configurations.
• Experience producing GA and fabrication drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Interpret briefs to size and specify product configurations.
• Apply engineering principles to determine load cases and standards.
• Develop engineering basis and support GA and product configuration.
• Produce drawing packages and BOMs for client and reviews.
• Respond to technical queries from clients or internal stakeholders.
• Review and validate design outputs, addressing risks proactively.
• Participate in engineering and constructability reviews.
